Happy to be Home
So, yes, I mean, this was a long one. Normal touring doesn't go like this. Usually, we will fly somewhere, rehearse, get on a bus and go. Show, maybe 2, maybe 3 in a row, then a day off. However, when you are doing summer festivals in Europe, some of us are far from home, so we are in hotels on days off while the band and part of the crew get to go home and relax in their own space before the next show. It isn't my favorite part of touring, to be honest. I did make the most o

Copenhell was HOT...
...In many ways. This festival is quite the spectacle with it's many stages, big and small with tons of bands to see all day. Unique looking cafe spots and vendors all with a METAL theme. Copenhagen is home to many bicycles and let me tell you, the festival grounds had more bikes than cars. Check out the video below. I managed to get there a few days early and it was hot then but every day after was even hotter. I skipped the second and third day and then Volbeat played the l

The Break
Eindhoven, Netherlands, 9:15 PM, sitting at the Skybar at the hotel. I have a few days break from my Volbeat duties so my plan is to relax a bit and maybe see a few movies. I will dig into some studio work at some point as well. Before I left, athe Somethin' Somethings recorded 12 songs for our new record ,so I have some work to do with those. All this time off gives me a chance to catch up a little on that. Anyway, back to tour talk. First, as promised, a picture of Jon's ne

2026
So, my last post was back in November and it was more of a personal post although it did have something to do with tour. I met this girl, woman really, and she knocked me out. If you didn't read the post, go back and read it. Anyway, fast forward.....here I am in Copenhagen writing again, sharing what I can about this year. Some of it is about tour, some about leading up to tour. I had some time off after last year. It was nice to be at home for a while and play music, write

Sometimes the connection is real
I know this is a tour blog, and ya know what, we met on tour so there ya go. A lot of tour romances are fleeting. I have a good feeling about this one. There is an undeniable connection between me and this lady. Agota and I met the first day on the bus and I thought to myself, as usual, "man, she's cute, probably married or at least involved" "totally out of my league and maybe too young to be interested in me anyway" so I didn't think much of it after that. As the tour went

A recap of sorts (part 1)
As I sit here and wait for my flight home, I am scrolling through pictures from this Euro tour. The above photo was some time in October at a rooftop bar in the hotel. The one of maybe only a few times everyone stayed at the same hotel. Also one of the few nights where the entire camp was invited to mingle over drinks and snacks. This is also only about half the people on this tour. We had a few different gatherings in October , Octoberfest in Germany which we celebrated toge

That is a wrap..almost.
What a tour year, Bush in May, Volbeat June, July, & August, then Volbeat AND Bush Sept, Oct, Nov. Oh ,but the fun is not over, I still have 6 more shows with Bush coming up in December. Yes, I am crazy, I admit it. This Euro run was a doozy with me pulling double duty, this is the first time I have ever tried that and the biggest question I got from people was " Would you do it again?" Well, I can say this, if I was walking into working for 2 drummers I had never worked for

11 more! Well, 22.
I am in Zurich Switzerland today. The picture above was from the previous show we just played in Luxembourg. We've played that venue numerous times it's basically a big rectangle room with floor space only, and a couple of balconies surrounding the perimeter. This tour has been fun in ways, stressful in ways, and I opening of my physical limits. I've seen many friends around the world this time and I know I will see some more before the tour is over. My endless popcorn searc
